GSRF Winter School Scheme held at PES’s Rajaram and Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy

A five-day Winter School Programme on the topic “Chemistry in Healthcare: Bridging Chemical Science, Medicine and Public Well-Being”, funded by the Goa State Research Foundation (GSRF), Government of Goa was organized by P.E.S.’s Rajaram and Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy, Farmagudi from 10th–14th November 2025. Prof. Celina Nazareth, Principal was the co-ordinator and Dr. Leena Sawaikar, Assistant Professor, was the Deputy Co-ordinator of the event.

The programme was aimed at bridging the gap between chemistry, medicine & healthcare, enlightening the importance of chemical sciences in improving human life and well-being.

Participants included students from various higher secondary schools across Goa. The programme schedule involved lectures and hands-on training sessions related to chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences.

Topics also addressed emerging concerns such as role of animals in research, microplastics, antimicrobial resistance, and the role of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
The programme concluded with a valedictory function in the distinguished presence of Prof. Savio Faleiro, Managing Director, Goa State Research Foundation as the Chief Guest and distribution of momentous, participation certificates. Dr. Swati Keny, Assistant Professor, anchored the programme and Dr. Leena Sawaikar proposed vote of thanks.

MoU with Fette Compacting Machinery India Private Ltd

As a significant milestone to enhance Industry Academia collaboration, our college PES’s Rajaram and Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy, Farmagudi, Ponda, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fette Compacting Machinery India Private Ltd., Verna, Goa, a leading global manufacturer of pharmaceutical tableting machinery.

The MoU aims to strengthen industry–academia collaboration by providing students with practical exposure to advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies. Under the agreement, students will benefit from industry-oriented training programmes, expert lectures, hands-on learning opportunities, and exposure to modern tablet compression and production systems.

The MoU signing was held in the distinguished presence of Mr. Ashok Gourish, Managing Director, Fette Compacting India, Mr. Dinesh Arumughan, Director, Customer Support, Mr. Aishwarya Korgaonkar, Lead, Marketing, Communication and HR, Shri. Ritesh Nark, President, Ponda Education Society, Shri. Datta Naik, Vice President, Ponda Education Society, Shri. Kishor Naik, Executive Member, PES and Professor Celina Nazareth, Principal, PES Rajaram and Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy.

The collaboration is expected to enhance students’ technical skills, improve employability, and bridge the gap between theoretical learning and industrial practice.

Celebration of 63rd National Pharmacy Week at PES’s Rajaram and Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy

The 63rd National Pharmacy Week (NPW) was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at PES’s Rajaram and Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy. This significant event, conducted in collaboration with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Goa State Branch, and the Goa State Pharmacy Council, aimed to raise awareness about the indispensable role of pharmacists in ensuring the health and well-being of society. This year’s theme, “Think Health, Think Pharmacy,” perfectly matched the activities held during the week.

Neighbourhood Awareness Campaign

As part of the week-long celebration, a Neighbourhood Awareness Campaign was launched. Student volunteers actively participated by visiting homes in their localities and engaging with the community. They distributed well-designed informational pamphlets that highlighted key aspects of medication safety, such as proper storage, dosage adherence, and potential drug interactions.

Through their interactions, the students emphasized the critical contributions of pharmacists as healthcare providers who ensure the safe and effective use of medicines. This local campaign helped people better understand how pharmacists connect patients with healthcare services.

Social Media Outreach

Recognizing the power of digital platforms, the students created engaging reels and videos to promote the theme of the event. These creative pieces, showcasing the significance of pharmacists in public health, were shared across various social media platforms. This not only extended the reach of the campaign but also captured the interest of a younger, tech-savvy audience.

The reels combined visuals, informative content, and catchy messages to stress the importance of consulting pharmacists for medication-related advice and the role they play in preventing medication errors.

The collaboration between the college, IPA Goa State Branch, and the Goa State Pharmacy Council ensured that the event was impactful and well-coordinated. With the combined efforts , the celebration successfully showcased the dynamic and essential role of pharmacists in modern healthcare systems.

The enthusiastic participation of students, faculty, and community members played a vital role in the event’s success. The initiative not only raised awareness but also inspired future pharmacists to understand their responsibilities and embrace their role as vital contributors to the healthcare ecosystem.

National Pharmacy Education Day – Pharma Anveshan 2026

National Pharmacy Education Day – Pharma Anveshan 2026 was celebrated on 6th March 2026, commemorating the birth anniversary of Prof. Mahadeva Lal Schroff, widely regarded as the Father of Pharmacy Education in India.

The event featured an insightful keynote address by Ms. Vaidehi Vivek Nabar, Associate at Freyr Solutions, Hyderabad, who shared valuable industry insights and experiences with the students and faculty.

The program was followed by engaging Quiz and Elocution competitions, encouraging students to showcase their knowledge, communication skills, and passion for the field of pharmacy.

The celebration highlighted the importance of pharmacy education, innovation, and the vital role pharmacists play in strengthening healthcare for society.
